Russian metal wares manufacturers are currently operating with much underloaded capacities. MMK-Metiz has also been affected.
The weak points of Russian companies are narrow product range in terms of sizes and the outdate machinery.
The MMK-Metiz modernization program for 2017-2020 is intended to solve these problems. In particular, the company plans to create a highly efficient manufacture capable of producing competitive metal wares.
The company is carrying out three main projects with the combined cost of 2.5 billion rubles.
In 2018 a fasteners complex was commissioned to produce import-substituting wares, in particular self-tapping screws.
The first stage of the high-carbon wire and ropes complex has also been commissioned. The project will be finished in Q1 2019.
Next year the complex to produce calibrated steel will also be constructed. (Ukrainian metal)
