PJSC ArcelorMittal Kriviy Rih keeps modernizing equipment. Section No. 9 of magnetic separation area was commissioned at OBP-2. 13 new separation units manufactured by Finnish company “Metso” were installed to replace 54 old ones, which enabled to reduce power consumption by 73 kW/h per day.
There are five magnetic separation sections at OBP-2 in total. Two of them were upgraded in earlier years, three others are to be modernized in 2018. It is planned to complete modernization of the whole separation line in January 2019.
Anatoliy Svetlov, Head of OBP-2 of PJSC ArcelorMittal Kriviy Rih: “We are gradually decommissioning obsolete equipment to improve our performance and reduce losses of essential raw materials. For example, we’ve managed to reduce ferrum losses at tails 5-fold at this section only: with old equipment this indicator reached 1.9% from general ferrum content in concentrate but with new equipment it will not exceed 0.4%. Moreover, it will enable us to increase production of magnetite concentrate by 950 tons per month. In addition, installation of new equipment at Section No. 9 gives us an opportunity to reduce load on flooring by 70 tons and it will increase life of separation area, which is highly important for personnel safety-wise”.
Mills of OBP-2 are to be upgraded as well – there are 20 mills at plant in total. 16 of them were already modernized (in 2009 to 2018) and four more are up next. Average capacity of one new mill makes 180-200 tons of crushed ore per hour, which provides for continuous production of concentrate and safety improvement – equipment automatically stops them in case of emergency. This way personnel involvement in operation is minimized.
PJSC ArcelorMittal Kriviy Rih is also upgrading OBP-1 of Mining Department. Two new vacuum filters were installed there last year, and two more have been received this year. Modernization of the whole filtration area will cost the company 45 million UAH. Two out of three planned vacuum pumps have also been replaced at OBP-1 this year. Mills are getting upgraded step by step – three were already replaced in 2018, one more is planned to be commissioned by the end of September. (AMKR/Ukrainian metal)
