Evraz still supplies slabs to the United States, despite the duty of 25%.
According to the Evraz vice president on finances Nikolay Ivanov, “on one hand, the products sold to the US became more expensive, while on the other, because of the duty, as expected, domestic prices have grown“.
“So we are still supplying slabs to US and have a positive margin. The imposition of the duty hit the local customers the hardest”, he said.
At the same time, Evraz was surprised that Canada became an exception, and its steel was also subject to the duty of 25%.
“This will affect our business. Our steel goes from US to Canada, where we manufacture large diameter pipes, and from Canada to US”, he noted. “We’re evaluating the impact on us”. (Ukrainian metal)
