The Magnitogorsk Iron and Steel Works (MMK) is the largest supplier in Russia of rolled metal for the production of pipes and is constantly strengthening and expanding its cooperation with pipe producers, mastering new products that meet modern requirements.
This position was announced at the 8th All-Russia Conference “Steel Pipes: Production and Regional Sales” by Andrei Golitsin, the senior manager of the regional sales group of PJSC MMK. According to him, last year MMK delivered about 1.9 million tons of steel to the Russian pipe companies, some 60% of all shipments of hot-rolled steel in the Russia.
The main consumers of such MMK metal include Chelyabinsk Tube Rolling Plant, Seversky Pipe Plant, Volzhsky Pipe Plant, Almetyevsky Pipe Plant (OMK Group), Ferrum, and Uraltrubprom. About 85% of the rolled metal for the pipe industry is sold in the Ural and Volga regions.
As part of the development of the plant’s interaction with the producers of pipe products, MMK has mastered production of the following types and dimensions: rolled from steel grade 20A up to 14 mm thick; rolled from steel grades 09GSF and 13HFA with guaranteed corrosion properties up to 10 mm thick; rolled from steel grade 20F strength class K50 up to 10mm thick and rolled from steel grade DNV SAWL 450 FD.
The production of hot-rolled coils from corrosion-resistant steel grades 09GSF and 13HFA with a thickness of 12-18 mm is planned in 2018. The production of rolled steel from grade 0H9 cryogenic steel instead of stainless steel for use in northern conditions is planned for the second half of 2018.
In addition, MMK produces its own pipe products. Last year the total volume was 47.3 thousand tons, including 11.4 thousand tons of galvanized pipes. The production of profile welded pipes was mastered at the end of 2017. (MMK/Ukrainian metal)
