Even though aluminum consumption per capita is lower in Russia, than in EU, in 2017 Russia claimed the first place in aluminum consumption growth (by 10%) as a whole and primary aluminum (by 11%) in particular.
The main drivers of consumption growth are construction, car manufacture, and machine-building. Combined they will soon account for 80% of the aluminum consumption growth.
In construction alone aluminum companies are prepared to sell over 20 types of products. (Ukrainian metal)
