In January Ukraine produced 1.67 million tons of rolled metal, down by 7% YoY, of which 1.4 million tons were exported, up by 31.3%.
Semi-finished products accounted for 46.7% (47.6% in January 2017), flat rolled metal – 27.3% (31.4%) and long rolled metal – 26% (21%).
The capacity of the domestic market was 370 thousand tons, of which imports accounted for 96.5 thousand tons, or 26%. In January 2017 the domestic market consumed 628 thousand tons of rolled metal with 63.3 thousand tons, or 10% imported. Thus, with the overall decrease of consumption by 41%, the volume of the imported rolled metal grew by 52%.
The structure of imports changed as well – in January 2017 flat rolled metal share was 58.6% and that of long rolled metal 40.9%, in January 2018 they were almost equal – 48.6% and 49.3% respectively. (Ukrainian metal)
