These activities imply comprehensive assessment of compliance of construction and operation of Udokan Mining and Metallurgical Plant with the environmental requirements established by the government of the Russian Federation with the aim to prevent negative impact that planned operation of the deposit might generate on the environment, including, among other things, recommended preventive and mitigation activities as well as environment monitoring and control measures.
Environment Impact Assessment (EIA) procedure implies analysis of the current state of environment components in the area of the plant and enables to perform quantitative assessment of the potential impact of Udokan Mining and Metallurgical Plant on the environment and evaluate environmental safety of the proposed project solutions. The information received will serve as a basis to define a list and scopes of the environment-related required works at all Project execution stages as well as proposals on environment monitoring system for construction and operation of Udokan Mining and Metallurgical Plant.
Activities on public disclosures and public hearings of EIA deliverables will be performed at all required stages of EIA procedure in the area of Udokan Mining and Metallurgical Plant in accordance with the requirements of the current legislation.
The final revision of EIA deliverables, including the studies and justifications and documents related to disclosures and public hearings shall be used during state expert review and approval of design documentation of Udokan Mining and Metallurgical Plant. (MetalInfo/Ukrainian metal)
