In 2017 Belarus Iron and Steel Works increased profit 5-fold, to $71 million.
According to the company statement, sales revenue grew by 132%, to $1.166 billion.
“Thanks to the stabilization of the situation on the raw materials market in September 2017, steel manufacture at BMZ reached 210 thousand tons per months. This provided for the growth all over the company”, it said.
Steel output went up by 7%, to 2.34 million tons, metal cord – by 105.1%, to 94.8 thousand tons, and steel wire – by 114.9%, to 238.9 thousand tons.
Rolled metal manufacture remained on the 2016 level – 2.13 million tons.
The works sold 2.23 million tons of metal, with 85% exported ($995.5 million). BMZ exported its products to 54 countries, 24 of which were new and prospective. The main sales markets in 2017 were Europe and Russia – 49.4% and 22.4% respectively. (Ukrainian metal)
