Because of the limitations on its traditional sales markets ArcelorMittal Kriviy Rih has suffered losses and is forced to reorient to other markets.
“All in all our losses on traditional sales markets amount to 1.5 million tons of rolled metal. We had to reorient to other directions. And that was not easy because of the logistics distance of new markets. But our sales and marketing team were able to find alternative ways”, the company CEO Paramjit Kahlon said.
According to him, in 2017 the competitiveness strengthened, and the main issue was the prime cost of the products.
“Unfortunately, we have lost competitiveness on CIS markets. Nowadays they are full of Russian products. Moreover, some markets limited the access of Ukrainian manufacturers, including us. Some governments have imposed antidumping duties on imported products, Ukraine-made as well. In particular, Egypt and US. Of course this has also affected our sales volumes”, he added.
