Silver and gold company Polymetal International is considering building a plant to refine refractory gold ore in the city of Sovetskaya Gavan in Russia’s Far East, according to a statement published by the regional government on November 7.
“The Sovetskaya Gavan’s site has all the necessary infrastructure and suits the new facility perfectly: there is a railway, a warm water seaport, energy infrastructure,” Polymetal CEO Vitaly Nesis said, as cited in the statement. “Availability of preferential business regimes is also important. These factors were decisive during the choice of the location in the Khabarovsk region, albeit we were considering the Primorsky region as well.”
Investment in the plant was not indicated. (Prime/Ukrainian metal)
