According to the Federal Customs Service, in January-August Russia imported 4.367 million tons of ferrous metals, up 1.58-fold YoY.
Of this volume CIS metal accounted for 2.783 million tons, and far foreign countries – 1.584 million tons (up from 1.819 million and 0.949 million tons in January-August 2016 respectively).
Ferrous metals imports without pig iron, ferroalloys, waste and scrap increased from 2.287 million tons to 3.738 million tons. CIS accounted for 2.271 million tons (1.411 million tons in January-August 2016), and far foreign countries – 1.467 million tons (0.876 million tons).
In January-August steel pipe imports totaled 0.493 million tons (0.297 million tons). CIS share increased from 0.172 million to 0.264 million tons, and far foreign countries – from 0.125 million to 0.228 million tons. (Ukrainian metal)
