A separate shop to produce copper wire rod was created at Kyshtym Electrolytic Copper Plant in 2007.
With the new Southwire continuous casting technology the works increased wire rod output from 10 thousand tons to 100 thousand tons per year.
Now the company has begun another modernization project. It plans to install a new casting machine, replace some pumps and equipment and improve inner logistics. This will help increase wire rod output by 40%, to 140 thousand tons per year. Investments will total 311 million rubles.
“Kyshtym Electrolytic Copper Plant produces 24.5% of all Russian copper wire rod. In 10 years the shop has produced almost 850 thousand tons of products. Next year we will produce the 1-millionth ton, having carried out our investment project”, the company CEO Andrei Kudryavtsev said. (Ukrainian metal)
