ArcelorMittal Kriviy Rih had to buy a batch of blast furnace coke from Columbia because of the material shortage in Ukraine.
“In late April – early May AMKR received some 28 thousand tons of Columbian coke”, a source said.
The works also received 15 thousand tons of Chinese coke. But the main coke supplier for AMKR is still Russia.
In mid-2014 Metinvest also showed interest in Columbian coke. Since 2014 Chinese coke has been purchased in small batches by AMKR, Azovstal and Dneprovsky Iron and Steel Works. (Ukrainian metal)
