Russia: Yakutia to return to mining tin in the Arctic

Yakutia needs 4.5 billion rubles to start mining tin in the Arctic. The mining should start in 2018.

The region houses 37% of all prospected tin reserves in the country (630 thousands tons), with Russia mining just 10% (around 500 tons per year), and importing 90%. The main tin suppliers are China, Bolivia and Portugal.

Annually Russia needs some 7.5 thousand tons of tin. (Ukrainian metal)
