In 2016 Mariupol Ilyich Iron and Steel Works, a part of Metinvest, decreased natural gas and electricity consumption, saving $11.157 million.
Last year the company saved 42.85 million cubic meters of gas and 19.4 million kW-h of electricity, CEO Yuri Zinchenko reported.
According to him, energy resources consumption in steel manufacture totaled 7% of electricity and 24% of gas.
Since 2013 Mariupol Ilyich has decreased gas consumption by 69 million cubic meters and electricity consumption by 46 million kW-h.
In 2016 the company produced 2.472 million tons of rolled metal, 2.737 million tons of steel and 3.815 million tons of pig iron, all up by 7%, 3.5% and 6.9% YoY respectively. (Ukrainian metal)
