OAO Minsk Motor Plant (MMZ, managing company of MMZ Group) plans to complete the first stage of a project to build a high strength cast iron plant in Stolbtsy (Minsk region) in Q2 2017.
The first stage includes three launch units: the first unit (cylinder block liner facility with annually capacity of 8,000 units) was launched in 2014, while the second (cold hardening mixtures) and the third units (foundry processing) will be launched simultaneously.
The estimated capacity of the first stage of construction is 18,000 units a year, second – 32,000 units, the entire project – 50,000 units.
The project is expected to be completed in Q2 2017. The annual capacity of the new plant will be 50,000 tons of cast iron. The plant will be making over 120 casting shapes (from 0.2 to 200 kilos).
The cast iron plant in Stolbtsy is an import substitution project by MMZ.
