According to recently released data by the Russian Trade Statistics, pig iron exports by Russia during the month of July this year dropped significantly when compared with the exports during same month a year before. Also, the exports were down sharply when matched with the month before.
Russia’s pig iron exports totaled 230,000 tons in July. The total exports were down significantly by 35.9% YoY. The country’s pig iron exports had totaled 359,000 tons during the same month in 2015. Also, the country’s pig iron exports in July tumbled by nearly 64% MoM. Russia’s pig iron exports totaled 634,000 tons during June.
The largest importer of Russian pig iron in July was the United States with 137,000 tons. The exports to the US declined considerably by nearly 35% when compared with the exports of 209,000 tons during the same month in 2015. The exports to the US accounted for nearly 60% of the total pig iron exports by Russia during the month. The second largest importer was Taiwan. The imports by Taiwan witnessed marginal decline over the previous year. The exports dropped by 4.4% from 31,500 tons in July last year to 30,000 tons in July 2016. The top two importing nations accounted for more than 72% of the total pig iron shipments out of Russia in July.
The cumulative pig iron exports by the country during the initial seven-month period of the current year totaled 2.89 million tons, marginally higher when compared with the exports during the corresponding seven-month period in 2015.
Russia exported 634,000 tons of pig iron in June. Spain with imports of 175,000 tons, was the key export destination. The second largest importer was the US. The imports by the US witnessed significant decline over the previous year. The exports tumbled by 65% from 408,000 tons in June last year to 143,000 tons in June 2016. The top two importing nations accounted for more than 50% of the total pig iron shipments out of Russia during June 2016.
In May Russia exported 445,673 tons of pig iron. The US with imports of 280,574 tons was the key export destination. The other main importers of Russian pig iron during the month were Italy (32,573 tons), Slovenia (28,556 tons), Taiwan (20,456 tons), Germany (17,703 tons) and Turkey (12,638 tons).
Pig iron exports by Russia in April totaled 388,991 tons. The largest importer was the US with imports totaling 250,089 tons. The other key export destinations were Turkey (38,881 tons), Italy (32,573 tons) and Belarus (26,378 tons). (Foundrygate/Ukrainian metal)
