In 2016 steel consumption in Ukraine is expected to increase by 30% YoY, to 4.4 million tons.
In 2015 steel consumption dropped by 21.6% YoY, to 3.3 million tons. In 2017 analysts expect steel consumption to grow by 6% YoY, to 4.6 million tons.
Steel consumption in Russia in 2016 will drop by 3.6% YoY, to 38 million tons, but will go up to 38.9 million tons in 2017.
According to Metinvest sales director Dmitry Nikolayenko, the fact that the steel consumption decrease in Ukraine in 2016 stopped was the positive sign. At the same time, he believes that in reality steel consumption increase could be lower. (Ukrainian metal)
