Twelve Volvo trucks will come to Norilsk Industrial Transport (NPT) Enterprise, Norilsk Nickel subsidiary, in the nearest future. New dump trucks will replace outdated equipment and improve ore transportation efficiency.
MAZ-5516А5-373 outdated dump trucks operated by NPT are used to deliver ore from stockpiles to Norilsk Concentrator of Polar Division. Ore transportation is twenty-four-hours-a-day process and is an integral stage of the Talnakh ores processing at Norilsk Concentrator.
According to NPT management, replacement of sixteen old MAZ trucks with new Volvo equipment will allow substantial optimization of logistics and production costs reduction.
Intermediate six-by-four dump trucks Volvo FM with improved characteristics are to be available for operation at Polar Division operations in the first fortnight of August. Thanks to their higher performance characteristics less Volvo trucks will handle the same tonnage currently transported by sixteen MAZ trucks.
Concurrently with new equipment procurement, trucks maintenance and repair service in Norilsk was arranged by certified specialists of Ferronordic Machines, an authorized dealer of Volvo Construction Equipment and Terex Trucks in Russia.
Besides, for the first time leasing model of equipment purchase was realized for Norilskindustrialtransport, which enabled the enterprise to involve external investments into its production activities and considerably reduce amount of investment program financing through the funds of the company.
