Donetskstal has decided to stop operations at Donetsk Iron and Steel Works because of problems with logistics in the Antiterrorist operation zone.

“The blast furnaces have been shut down until the railroad starts working again”, said Metallurgprom president Alexander Kalenkov.

In May DMZ produced 106 thousand tons of pig iron – the largest volume since July 2014.

Some sources say the decision to stop operations could have been taken under the pressure of the so-called Donetsk Peoples Republic.

For the past 6 months the company has been advised to reregister in Ukraine-uncontrolled territories and pay taxes to the “republican” budget. (Ukrainian metal)
