Interpipe says in January-March ferrous scrap deficiency on Ukrainian market was on the level of 176 thousand tons.
“Scrap procurement in Q1 totaled 614 thousand tons, according to Metallurgprom. This is the lowest result for the past 20 years. For the first time in history Ukraine procured less scrap than needed on the local market. In Q1 metal companies needed 790 thousand tons of scrap. The scrap deficiency totaled 22%”, said the company in its statement.
In March Ukraine procured 261 thousand tons of scrap, with deficiency on the level of 28 thousand tons (10% of the needs). Last month Ukraine procured 32% less scrap YoY and 45% less than in March 2014. (Ukrainian metal)
