In October and November 2015 Dneprovsky Iron and Steel Works named after Dzerzhinsky received $2.5 million of losses each month, and $6 million in December.
“Our output volumes fell in October. We put our blast furnace under planned repairs; square price fell from $267 to $220 and then to $212. In December we operated only one furnace, resulting in $6 million of losses”, says the company acting CEO Vyacheslav Mospan.
On January 1, DMKD put another blast furnace into operation.
“We have to put the third furnace into operation. But to do this, we have to prepay for some 10 days of iron ore raw materials, coke and electricity supplies. And we still have to pay some 2-4 million UAH for railroad transportation daily. The situation has started to stabilize lately. We get some money and pay”, he added. (Ukrainian metal)
