Ukraine: Khartsyzsk Pipe Works cut for scrap

Employees of the Khartsyzsk Pipe Works (KhTZ) went on a strike protesting against the closing and disassembly of the works.

The city is under control of the illegal and so-called Donetsk People’s Republic gang. The works is a part of the largest mining-metallurgical complex of Ukraine – Metinvest.

The strikers said they were protesting against oligarch actions. In particular, those of Sergey Kurchenko, who, as they believed, was going to disassemble the works equipment and sell the company for scrap.

The deputy director Roman Khrokalo said the works would not be closed, but all the employees would get two thirds of the salary, as KhTZ was idle because of the absence of orders. (Ukrainian metal)
