Ingulets Mining and Processing Works (InGOK) plans to start processing oxidized ores.
According to the company acting CEO Alexander Gerasimchuk, neither Ukraine, nor other CIS countries process oxidized ores.
“We’re not saying it’s the global problem, that oxidized quartzite for InGOK, but we carry some 5 million tons of it annually, and we could process them. For the last 3 years we have been choosing the best technique to process oxidized quartzite”, he said.
“Still, this is not our priority for today, but rather a reserve way to supply our volumes”, he added.
Gerasimchuk noted that procession of 5 million tons of oxidized quartzite would yield around 2 million tons of 65% Fe content concentrate. At the same time the company is tasked with mining 36 million tons of ore annually and producing 14 million tons of iron ore concentrate. (Ukrainian metal)
