Vostochny Mining and Processing Works (VostGOK) plans to produce 1.2 thousand tons of uranium concentrate in 2015, up by 29.6% YoY.
“This shouldn’t be viewed as an achievement, as in 2014, due to the known events, we were unable to process large volumes of ore. We stocked them, and now work with these stocks”, said the company CEO Alexander Sorokin.
He added, that now the main increase in production was due to the high quality ore from Novokonstantinovskaya mine, while Ingulskaya and Smolinskaya mines had passed their peak. At the same time Smolinskaya reserves would last for 5 more years.
“We would do our best so that the settlement of Smolino and the employees, living and working there, would be able to work at the Novokonstantinovskaya mine, after their mine is closed”, Sorokin said.
In 2014 VostGOK produced 925.7 tons of uranium concentrate, up by 0.4%, or by 3.4 tons YoY. In 2013 concentrate output fell by 4% YoY, or by 38.2 tons, to 922 tons. In 2012 the works produced 960.2 tons of concentrate, up by 7.6% YoY. (Ukrainian metal)
