ArcelorMittal Kriviy Rih plans to produce 6.5 million tons of steel in 2015.
“Our plan for 2015 is 6.5 million tons of steel. We’re working to reach this level. We have no plans to lower our production volumes”, said AMKR CEO Paramjit Kahlon.
He said the works was in the active search for new sales markets and potential buyers. Kahlon also noted that since August 2014 due to the military activity the company had been unable to purchase coke and coal from local suppliers. Thus it had to import the needed raw materials. In particular, AMKR imports 82 thousand tons of coke per month from Poland. In 2014 the works ordered a trial batch of coke from China, but because of its low quality had to give up buying coke in China.
Kahlon also noted that the company buys 75% of natural gas from Ukrainian suppliers and imports the rest. (Ukrainian metal)
