Ukrainian steel prices to keep falling in 2015

In 2015 Ukrainian steel prices will continue falling due to manufacture cost price decrease and high competitions between manufacturers.

In 2015 rolled steel prices at Black Sea ports will fall by 5-11%, or by $25-55 per ton, YoY, analysts say. Average annual prices in 2015 (FOB Black Sea) will be as follows: billets – $437 per ton (down by 11%), reinforcement steel – $485 (down by 9%), rolled wire – $495 (down by 9%), slabs – $455 (down by 7%), plate – $514 (down by 5%), hot-rolled coils – $500 (down by 5%), cold-rolled coils – $573 per ton (down by 5%).

Due to lower world production in 2015 (up by 0.9%, or by 15 million tons) in comparison with increase in steelsmelting capacities (by 1.8%, or by 38 million tons), most capacities will be loaded by 77.6% against 78.8% in 2014, and this would also negatively affect rolled prices. (Ukrainian metal)
