According to the preliminary data, in the first eight months of 2011 Ukraine registered a 5.6% growth YoY in its finished steel product output, to 20.334 million tons, an increase of 8.4% in its crude steel output, to 23.153 million tons, and a 6% rise in its pig iron production, to 19.107 million tons.
The country’s production of metallurgical coke went up by 6.7% YoY to 13.026 million tons during the first eight months of 2011. In January to August Ukraine produced 43.576 million tons of iron ore concentrate and 52.783 million tons of iron ore, up by 2.3% YoY and 3.0% YoY.
In August alone Ukraine produced 2.529 million tons of finished steel products, up by 4.6%, 2.990 million tons of crude steel, up by 8.3%, 2.537 million tons of pig iron, up by 8.9%. In August Ukraine’s production of coke increased by 5.6% compared to July rising to 1.657 million tons. (SteelOrbis)
