According to the Ukrainian association of metal producers Metallurgprom, in January Ukraine’s average daily pig iron output was almost unchanged from the December 2010 level, seeing a very slight increase from 77,600 tons to 77,800 tons.

In the first seven days of February the country average daily pig iron output registered a slight decrease to 77,500 tons.
According to the Metallurgprom data, as of February 1 five of Ukraine’s 36 operating blast furnaces were idle, while 3 of the country 21 converters, 17 of its 35 open-hearth furnaces and 8 of its 15 electric furnaces also continued to stand idle. (SteelOrbis)
