It is reported that the Russian government extends and increases the antidumping duties for the Ukrainian pipe makers, that otherwise would have expired in January 2011.
Interpipe products can enjoy the preferential 19.4% duty on hot deformed and gas oil pipe exports to Russia.
According to a Millennium Capital analyst “The news is negative for the Ukrainian pipe producers, like Interpipe and IUD’s DTRZ, that struggle for customers while nearby Russia is experiencing pipe-making boom. To worsten the situation, it is not clear whether the half-a-million ton quote for duty-free imports of Ukrainian pipes to Russia will also be stretched to the next year. However, antidumping duties are neutral for Khartzysk Pipe Works, as these do not apply to large diameter pipes produced by it.” (Millennium Capital)
