According to preliminary data, issued by the Ukrainian Association of Ore-dressing Enterprises, in the first nine months of the current year Ukrainian steelmakers imported 1.834 million tons of iron ore, down by 40.7% YoY, while Ukrainian mining companies’ iron ore exports rose by 24.2% YoY to 24.721 million tons.
In particular, in January to September this year, Ukraine’s exports of iron ore concentrate increased by 21.8% YoY to 11.154 million tons, exports of pellets went up by 20.5% to 8.423 million tons, while its exports of sintered ore climbed by 21.7% to about 4.42 million tons. In addition, during the period in question, Ukraine also shipped 724,900 tons of agglomerate for export, up by 5.6 times compared to the same period last year.
On the other hand, in January to September of the current year, Ukraine steel producers imported 1 million tons of iron ore concentrate, down by 59% YoY, 761,700 tons of sinter ore, up by 75.7% YoY, and 70,900 tons of pellets, down by 59.4% YoY.
