It is reported that Dniepropetrovsk Iron and Steel Works named after Petrovsky (DMZP), a steelmaking subsidiary of the Russian steelmaker and iron ore producer Evraz Group, has carried out third category maintenance works at its blast furnace No 3, which has allowed it to reduce the consumption of iron and coke per metric ton of pig iron by 10 kilogram and 7 kilogram respectively.
The plant expects that following the upgrading the production capacity of its BF will increase to 2,000 tons of pig iron a day, while the capacity of the entire BF shop will amount to 3,400-3,450 tons of pig iron per day. In addition, DMZP has produced the first trial batch of 12 mm steel channel under European standards.
The products have improved technical characteristics, including weight per linear meter, compared with the channels DMZP has been producing to date. By the end of the current year, DMZP also plans to start the production of 8 mm and 10 mm channel under European standards. (SteelOrbis)
