The first shipment of anthracite coal from the United States, supplied by XCoal Energy and Resources, totaling 85,000 tons should arrive in Ukraine in early September, the embassy of Ukraine in the United States wrote on Facebook.

“The shipment of thermal coal to Ukraine was established by an agreement between the Ukrainian state-owned Centrenergo and the U.S.-based XCoal Energy and Resources, as a result of the agreements reached with the U.S. administration during the Washington visit by president Petro Poroshenko on June 20,” the statement says.

The ceremony dedicated to the first shipment of coal to Ukraine was attended by Ukrainian Ambassador to the U.S. Valery Chaly, Deputy Chief of Staff for the U.S. Secretary of Commerce Israel Hernandez, Senior White House Advisor at U.S. Department of Energy Wells Griffith, and the management of XCoal.
