The Amurmetal plant, the only metallurgical facility in Russia’s Far East, that resumed operations in late July after a 6-month shutdown, has launched exports to Asia, the Far East Development Ministry said quoting Vladimir Lebedev, CEO of Torex-Khabarovsk, a resident of the Khabarovsk priority development area, on August 18.

“Over 60% of the products is exported to South-Eastern Asia, including Thailand, the Philippines, Korea, which do not have large steel-making facilities due to a lack of energy resources, but have big rolling facilities,” the statement cited Lebedev as saying.

He also said the plant would sell about 25,000 tons of steel monthly on the domestic market. (Prime/Ukrainian metal)
