Ukraine’s production of coal decreased by 558,400 tons, or by 2.9%, in January-June, compared to the same period in 2016.

This has been stated in an information note on the main indicators of the Ukrainian fuel and energy industry development over the first six months of 2017.

“In January-June coal-mining enterprises of Ukraine produced 558.4 thousand tons of coal (or 2.9%) less than in the corresponding period of 2016. In particular, they produced 185.5 thousand tons of coal (or 1.3%) more compared to the corresponding period last year, while the production of coking coal dropped by 743.9 thousand tons (or 17.6%),” reads the note.

In January-June the total amount of coal produced by coal-mining enterprises, which are subordinated to the Energy Ministry of Ukraine, decreased by 651.3 thousand tons (or by 21.6%) in comparison with the corresponding period last year. In particular, the production of steam coal decreased by 520.6 thousand tons (or 21.3%), coking coal – by 130.7 thousand tons (or by 22.5%). (Ukrinform/Ukrainian metal)
