In August Ukrainian metal companies intend to produce 1.7 million tons of steel.

According to Ukrmetallurgprom, pig iron output is forecast at 1.4 million tons and rolled metal – at 1.6 million tons.

For July Ukrmetallurgporm forecasts were: steel – 1.7 million tons, pig iron – 1.6 million tons, rolled metal – 1.4 million tons.

In June metal output decreased MoM to 1.5 million tons of pig iron, 1.6 million tons of steel and 1.35 million tons of rolled metal.

In January-June Ukraine produced 9.4 million tons of pig iron, 10.3 million tons of steel and 8.7 million tons of rolled metal, all down by 21%, 17% and 20% YoY respectively.

Ukrainian iron ore raw materials deliveries dropped by 200 thousand tons MoM in June, to 1.8 million tons, or 12.1 million tons in 6 months, down by 14%. Iron ore raw materials were not imported in June, with 90 thousand tons imported in H1, down by 92% YoY. Exports totaled 3.4 million tons in June, down by 220 thousand tons MoM, and 20.5 million tons in January-June, up by 2% YoY.

Ukrainian coal deliveries to by-product coke plants reached 340 thousand tons in June and 1.9 million tons in 6 months, down by 36% YoY. Imports totaled 780 thousand tons and 5.1 million tons (down by 17% YoY) respectively.

All in all in June Ukrainian by-product coke plants received 1.1 million tons of coking coal, and 7 million tons in 6 months, down by 23% YoY. The share of imported coals in the total volume increased to 73% from 67% in January-June 2016. As of July 1, coal stocks were 480 thousand tons.

Ukrainian metal companies received 720 thousand tons of local coke in June (up by 20 thousand tons MoM) and 4.2 million tons in 6 months (down by 23% YoY), with 80 thousand tons imported in June and 430 thousand tons in 6 months (down by 19%). All in all coke deliveries to metal companies totaled 4.6 million tons in January-June, down by 23% YoY.

In June metal companies received 280 thousand tons of scrap, or 102% of the need. In 6 months scrap deliveries constituted 1.6 million tons, up by 4% YoY, and just 89% of the need. Scrap stocks increased by 20 thousand tons, to 120 thousand tons as of July 1. Ukraine exported 22 thousand tons of scrap in June, down by 20 thousand tons MoM, and 131 thousand tons in 6 months (233 thousand tons in H1 2016).

In June Ukrainian metal companies consumed 125 million cubic meters of gas, on the May level. Average daily consumption totaled 4.2 million cubic meters. In H1 metal companies consumed 880 million cubic meters of gas, up by 2% YoY.

Electric energy consumption in 6 months was 5.7 billion kW-h, down by 11% YoY. (Ukrainian metal)
