In January-May Ukrainian thermal and combined heat and power plants consumed 9.16 million tons of coal, down by 26% YoY.

According to the Ministry of energy and coal industry, in May coal consumption decreased by 40.8% YoY, to 1.343 million tons. The drop in consumption is the result of the stop of deliveries from the ATO zone of anthracite coal, used by half of Ukraine’s TPPs.

In 2016 Ukrainian power plants increased coal consumption by 9.4% YoY, to 31.338 million tons, in particular 12.824 million tons of anthracite and 18.514 million tons of gas coal. (Ukrainian metal)
