Belarus is ready to help Sudan and Egypt with extracting gold and other mineral resources, Belarusian Natural Resources and Environmental Protection Minister Andrei Kovkhuto declared.

The relevant matters were discussed as a delegation of the Belarusian Natural Resources and Environmental Protection Ministry visited Sudan and Egypt.

Among other things the sides discussed the possibility of joint geological prospecting work. Apart from gold the countries may use assistance with extracting phosphate rock, glassmaking sand, and a number of other mineral resources. Belarus is experienced in prospecting and extracting some of them. For instance, a certain amount of gold was extracted in the past.

“We believe there are good prospects for joint work in these countries,” noted Andrei Kovkhuto.

He went on saying that several areas for prospecting natural resources together with Sudanese colleagues had been chosen. Those are the so-called primary deposits, which can be extracted using open pits. (BelTA/Ukrainian metal)
