Russian companies have covered 80% of needs of the local cable market.
In 2016 the volume of the market exceeded 266 billion rubles, with 233 billion on account of local companies and the import share on the level of 19.3%.
“This is a very good result on the background of the Russian industry. At the same time we have to switch to exports. At present, unfortunately, the cable export share is only 7.6%, or 17.8 billion rubles. I believe the cable industry has a very serious potential to considerably increase this figure”, the Ministry of industrial policy machinery department deputy director Oleg Tokarev said.
According to Gennady Meschanov, the president of the Electrocable association, around 60% of all Russia-produced copper is consumed by the local cable industry. (Ukrainian metal)
