Pobuzhye Ferronickel Plant, a part of Solway, could resume the imports of power-generating coal from Colombia in case the deliveries from Ukraine and CIS countries are blocked.

“We have created a data base on coals. Colombian coal fits our technology well, but it’s an alternative variant”, he said.

According to Bespalov, if deliveries of Ukrainian, Kazakh or Russian coal are blocked PFK will immediately make a prepayment and will get the raw materials in 24 days from Colombia.

“Three more days will be needed to unload it at the port”, he added.

Among other probable suppliers of coal are Poland, Indonesia and the South African Republic.

At present the company stocks a 2-months reserve of coal (40 thousand tons).

The company consumes some 1.5 thousand tons of anthracite coal per month.

“Next year we will complete the overhaul of the second furnace and will stop using such coal altogether”, Bespalov said. (Ukrainian metal)
