Norilsk Nickel has invested 4.6 billion rubles into the modernization of its port terminal in Murmansk.

According to the company statement, 2.4 billion rubles were spent on construction of the second birth, which would be put into operation in late March.

The increase in throughput capacity will allow Nornickel to transport all of its produce after the Norilsk nickel works shut down to be processed at the Kola Iron and Steel Works in Murmansk region.

In 2016 Nornickel produced 236 thousand tons of nickel, down by 12% YoY. The company net profits increased by 47%, to $2.5 billion. (Ukrainian metal)
