Within the antidumping investigations the European Commission has started registering hot-rolled steel from Russia and Brazil. The suppliers could be hit with retroactive duties of 20-50%. The final decision will be made in October.

The registration procedure is explained by the imports from the countries under question having grown since the investigation started, and only antidumping duties are not enough. In particular, imports from Russia increased by 73%, from Brazil – by 26%.

Russia supplies some 2 million tons of hot-rolled steel per year to EU, with the main suppliers being Severstal and MMK. (Ukrainian metal)
