In 2016 Ukraine increased metal exports by 0.2% YoY, to 21.4 million tons, valued at $7.2 billion, down by 10.3% YoY.

The main products of Ukrainian ferrous exports were semi-finished products (36.2%, or 7.7 million tons), rolled steel (44.5%, or 9.5 million tons) and metal raw materials (17.3%, or 3.7 million tons). Rolled exports went up by 6.4% YoY, while semis decreased by 0.1%, with raw materials dropping by 12.2%.

EU accounted for 33.5% of Ukrainian metal exports, Africa – 20.7%, Eastern Europe – 19.2%, Near East – 13.2%, CIS – 7.2%, other countries – 6.2%.

In 2016 Ukraine imported 809.8 thousand tons of metal valued at $1.14 billion, up by 17.8% and by 42.8% YoY respectively. The main products imported were rolled steel (76.1%, or 616.2 thousand tons), alloyed rolled steel (15%, or 121.4 thousand tons) and metal raw materials (7.6%, or 61.8 thousand tons).
