The Belarus Iron and Steel Works has diversified deliveries of scrap this year by starting importing it from the European Union.

According to the company CEO Alexander Savenyuk, Belarus doesn’t have enough scrap for metal companies and buys about 55% of the scrap used abroad.

So far BMZ has received scrap from Denmark and Finland.

In January-October the company imported $26.7 million worth of materials and spare parts.

In January-August BMZ produced 1.443 million tons of steel and 55 thousand tons of pipes, all down by 21% and by 63% YoY respectively. (Ukrainian metal)
