The Republic of Komi decided not to build the alumina plant.
Komi Aluminum was SUAL’s project on construction of alumina-aluminum complex, with the expected capacity of 6.5 million tons of bauxites, 1.5 million tons of alumina and 300-500 thousand tons of aluminum per year. The cost of the project was estimated at $2 billion in 2004 prices.
Komi was to build the bauxite-alumina complex in 2005-2006, but the construction was always postponed. (Ukrainian metal)
